Village house
MAILHAC (11120)
This delightful home is situated in the center of Mailhac, a historic, well preserved village on the border of Aude and Hérault departments.
The front door opens into the tiled dining room, with a fully fitted, open FRENCH COUNTRY KITCHEN to the left. The rear wall of the dining room has an open fireplace.
A doorway next to the fire place leads to the cozy living room which has a state of the art Sergio Leone ceramic pellet stove. To the left of the living room is the first bedroom, which is currently being used as an office.
Both the kitchen/dining room and the living room have OLD STONE WALLS and exposed beams.
The staircase in the living room takes you to the first floor with 2 bedrooms with original TOMMETTE FLOORS, 2 shower rooms and a closet that houses the washer and dryer. Also on the first floor is the summer kitchen and access to the large, sunny ROOF TERRACE from where you can see the church tower.
A staircase on the roof terrace provides access to a finished attic that would make a great game room or additional bedroom.
The house also has a large cellar, which can be accessed from the living room.
Mailhac is a small village, but with a big history going back 5000 years. The old village, still marked by its fortifications, has been restored and retains traces of its past such as Roman villas, Visigothic marks, Carolingian circular and ramparts.
The village has an epicerie, bar and post office.
Olonzac, with its weekly market, shops and restaurants, is 10 km away.
The Narbonne Plage beach is approx. 40 kms away and the Pyrenees can be reached in about 2 hours for skiing.
The area is also well served by airports with regular low-cost flights to the UK from Carcassonne Airport 54 km and Béziers Cap d'Agde Airport 53 km.
